Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the Yɛkɔware platform. These terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Yɛkɔware.
1. About Yɛkɔware
Yɛkɔware (meaning "We are going to get married" in the Twi language of the Akan people of Ghana) is an African wedding platform dedicated to celebrating, documenting, and promoting African wedding cultures, traditions, and heritage worldwide.
The platform provides editorial content, wedding galleries, cultural guides, a vendor directory, and community features for couples, families, and professionals engaged with African wedding traditions.
By accessing or using Yɛkɔware, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Yɛkɔware platform. By using the platform, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are accessing the platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to do so.
3. Use of the Platform
You may use Yɛkɔware for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes unless you have entered into a separate commercial agreement with us (e.g., a vendor listing subscription).
You agree not to:
Use the platform in any way that violates applicable law or regulation
Reproduce, redistribute, or republish platform content without prior written permission
Upload, submit, or share content that is false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or offensive
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or its systems
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to extract content from the platform at scale
Impersonate any person, organisation, or cultural authority
Use the platform to harass, discriminate against, or harm individuals or communities
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms.
4. User-Submitted Content
Yɛkɔware invites couples, families, and community members to submit wedding stories, photographs, and community content for potential publication.
By submitting content, you confirm that:
You own or have the right to submit all content, including photographs
All individuals depicted have consented to be featured on the platform
The content is accurate and does not infringe the rights of any third party
By submitting content, you grant Yɛkɔware:
A non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, display, and promote your submitted content on the platform and associated social media channels
The right to edit, resize, or adapt submissions for editorial purposes while preserving their cultural integrity
You retain full ownership of your content. We will not sell your content to third parties without your written consent.
We may decline to publish any submission that does not meet our editorial or community standards.
5. Vendor Listings
Vendors listed in the Yɛkɔware directory are independent businesses, not employees or agents of Yɛkɔware. We do not endorse any specific vendor and are not a party to any transaction between users and vendors.
If you engage a vendor found through our platform, your agreement is solely with that vendor. We strongly recommend conducting your own due diligence before engaging any service provider.
Vendors are responsible for the accuracy of their listed information and for delivering their services in accordance with African wedding cultural values.
6. Intellectual Property
All original content on the Yɛkɔware platform, including editorial articles, cultural guides, design elements, the Yɛkɔware name and logo, is the intellectual property of Yɛkɔware and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.
You may share links to our content and quote brief excerpts for non-commercial purposes (e.g., social media, editorial reference) provided you clearly attribute Yɛkɔware and link back to the source.
You may not copy, reproduce, or republish substantial portions of our editorial content without prior written permission. To request permission, email editorial@yekoware.com.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Yɛkɔware is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
We do not warrant that:
The platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
The cultural information presented is complete or free of errors (though we take great care with accuracy)
Any vendor, couple story, or community content has been independently verified
Cultural and traditional information on the platform is provided for general education and inspiration. It is not a substitute for guidance from actual community elders, family members, or cultural practitioners within specific traditions.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Yɛkɔware and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the platform.
This includes, without limitation, any loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or costs of substitute services. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review those documents carefully.
10. Third-Party Links
The platform may contain links to external websites and resources. Yɛkɔware is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any linked third-party sites. Links are provided for convenience only and do not constitute an endorsement.
